Tie to Sustainable Development Goals

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

This conference aligns with the following goals:

Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing

Goal 4: Quality Education

Goal 13: Climate Action

Goal 17: Partnerships

The Objectives of the conference are:

  1. Promotion of diaspora engagement: The conference will aim to promote diaspora engagement by providing a platform for Jamaicans living in Canada to connect, learn about the issues impacting ideas, share experiences, and contribute to the collective development of Jamaica.
  2. Identification of potential partnerships and initiatives: The conference can serve as a catalyst for identifying potential partnerships and initiatives between Jamaican organizations, businesses, and individuals based in Canada. It provides an opportunity for attendees to explore collaboration possibilities, exchange ideas, and create networks that can lead to joint ventures, social projects, and mutually beneficial initiatives for both countries.
