Unconditional Landing allows an individual to may remain in Jamaica for an extended period of time. Jamaican citizens have an automatic right of entry to Jamaica, and unconditional landing status.
Foreign nationals who have a claim to Jamaican citizenship are encouraged to exercise their right of obtaining a Jamaican passport and use it to enter or leave Jamaica, even when using a foreign passport overseas. The only exception is where they have renounced their Jamaican Citizenship or have an Unconditional landing in their foreign passport.
Eligibility for Unconditional Landing
- A person has a claim to Jamaican citizenship and wants that status in their foreign passport.
- Jamaican nationals who are holders of non-Jamaican passports.
- Holders of a Caribbean Community (free movement of skilled persons) Certificate.
- Persons who have been naturalised or registered as citizens of Jamaica.
Documentary Requirements
DESCENT
- Valid Passport (at least 6 months validity).
- Applicants Birth Certificate/Divorce Decree, where applicable.
- Parent’s Birth Certificate/machine readable Jamaican passport/Citizenship Certificate.
- Parent’s Marriage Certificate/Divorce Decree.
- Adoption Certificate
NATURALIZATION
- Valid passport (at least 6 months validity).
- Jamaican Naturalization Certificate.
- Marriage Certificate, where applicable.
CARICOM UNCONDITIONAL LANDING
- Valid passport (at least 6 months validity)
- Certificate of Recognition/letter from Ministry of Agriculture, Labour & Social Security
- Birth Certificate of dependents, where applicable
- Marriage Certificate, where applicable
Note: In the case of minors, if the parents are overseas, they must provide a notarized copy of their passport and a notarized letter granting permission for the minor to apply for Unconditional Landing.
Processing fees (J$):
New Applications: One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00).
Transfer of Endorsement: Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00).
Applications for Unconditional Landing are only accepted in Jamaica; currently Unconditional Landing is only granted by the PICA Offices in Kingston and Montego Bay. See contact information.
EXTENSION OF STAY IN JAMAICA
Persons desirous of staying in Jamaica beyond the date approved by the Immigration Officer at the port of entry, are required to apply for an Extension of Stay at the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) by completing the Application for Extension of Stay.
Processing Fees (J$):
New applications: Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00).
Transfer of Endorsement: Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00).
Note: Foreigners over 16 years of age remaining in Jamaica in excess of six (6) months must be register. The cost for registration is Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00).
Non-Commonwealth nationals as well as nationals from Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka British Virgin Island and the Cayman Islands are required to pay multiple entry visa fees as listed below:
